I think I just got “hung up on” by someone from the shadowy Syrian Electronic Army. But not before they told me that they’re working with an even more elusive hacking group — Anonymous.
I have every reason to believe I was chatting with a member of the infamous collective, commonly known as the SEA. The hacktivists have been a busy bunch these days. The SEA, which is loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, has been racking up its share of digital scalps, shutting down the websites of the New York Times and the Washington Post, among other things. The group — with its ornate logo and string of high-profile hacks — has even caught the attention of the F.B.I.
